The five biggest superyacht price drops of May

29 May 2025 • Written by Emily Dawkins

According to BOATPro, there are over 1,250 superyachts currently listed for sale, with the total value of price reductions in May reaching €73.92 million from 79 drops. BOAT takes a closer look at five of this month's biggest price drops, starting with an innovative Dutch-built motor yacht...

1. Excellence V - $10,000,000 price drop

Length: 46.2m
Builder: Feadship
Now asking: $32,000,000

Taking the top spot for the largest price drop of the month, with $10,000,000 deducted from her sales listing, is Excellence V, represented by Dirk Johnson of Edmiston. On the market for less than two months before her major price drop was announced, the 46.2-metre motor yacht was listed for sale following an extensive refit completed in 2024, 10 years on from her original delivery.

An exterior by Ed Dubois and interiors by RWD made Excellence V one of the most recognisable Feadship new builds when she was first launched - labelled an "unexpected yacht" for the shipyard with her raised pilothouse design. Highlights on board include the main saloon with its innovative rotating seating and fully-equipped bar that spills onto the aft deck, and the flexible sundeck, which can be either completely open air or semi-enclosed and air-conditioned. Accommodation is for up to 10 guests in five cabins.

Length: 47m
Builder: Heesen Yachts
Now asking: $25,000,000

A currency change and a price drop of 20 per cent (estimated at around $6,300,000) were announced by Burgess on Heesen's 47-metre motor yacht Artisa towards the end of the month. The motor yacht, which is best known by her previous name Book Ends, was delivered in 2017 as the last unit of 15 from the Dutch yard's 47 Steel series, designed by Omega Architects.

Artisa offers nearly 185 square metres of outdoor deck space on board - the largest of which is her 83-square-metre sundeck, host to a spa tub, fully equipped bar, sunpads and plenty of space for working out, dining and relaxing. Her interior, from British studio Bannenberg & Rowell, is decorated with bright pops of colour and visually appealing geometric finishes, offering accommodation for up to 11 guests in five cabins.

3. Emerald - €4,000,000 price drop

Length: 50.4m
Builder: Feadship
Now asking: €21,000,000 with VAT paid

Listed for sale with David Westwood and James Hall of TWW Yachts, the 50.4-metre motor yacht Emerald received a €4,000,000 price drop in mid-May, almost one year on since she first entered the market in July 2024. Originally delivered by Feadship in 1990 to a design by De Voogt Naval Architects, Emerald caught the industry's attention in 2023 when she was relaunched by Balk Shipyard following a major rebuild intended to retain her Dutch heritage while updating her for years more cruising capabilities.

It was her Orion Green Mulder hull, contemporary Design Unlimited interiors and new, extended length – which resulted in one of the largest aft main deck spaces in her class – that made her a finalist at the World Superyacht Awards 2024. Accommodation is for 12 guests in six cabins, including a forward-facing master and a neighbouring VIP suite on the main deck.

Length: 62.8m
Builder: Rossinavi
Now asking: $39,900,000 with US duty paid

The award-winning motor yacht Utopia IV joins the line-up for the largest price drops of May 2025. $4,100,000 was reduced from her listing with Lon McCloskey and Josh Gulbranson of Fraser, bringing her total reductions to $11,600,000 since she first entered the market in June 2021, according to data from BOATPro.

Delivered in 2018 to a design by Team For Design - Enrico Gobbi, it was her "sleek and modern lines, understated design and well-conceived general arrangement plan", as summarised by the judges, that saw her take home a coveted Neptune award at the World Superyacht Awards 2019. Features include a children's playroom on the main deck, an expansive beach club illuminated by the aft deck glass-bottomed pool and an open-air cinema on the bridge deck. A six-cabin layout welcomes 12 guests - the highlight of which is the owner's suite with a glass-enclosed Jacuzzi bath.

Length: 49.9m
Builder: Devonport
Now asking: €24,900,000

Alamshar received a further €3,100,000 price drop to her sales listing with Virginia Di Antonio of Yachting Partners International (YPI) at the start of the month - marking her second time in the biggest price drops of the month round-up this year. Listed for sale in September 2024, the motor yacht – which was commissioned by the late Prince Karim Al-Husseini, also known as the Aga Khan IV – has received a collective €14,600,000 of reductions since she first entered the market.

Almashar was delivered in 2014 and instantly rocketed into attention as the only all-gas-turbine-powered yacht in the world, capable of speeds in excess of 45 knots. Donald L. Blount is responsible for her eye-catching futuristic profile with blue-tinted windows, while RWD created a bright and minimalist interior, accommodating up to 12 guests across five cabins.
