A price drop of €1,700,000 has been announced on the 54.3-metre classic three-masted gaff-rigged schooner, Shenandoah of Sark, listed for sale with Bobby McDougall of Mediterranean Yachts.

Constructed in steel by US yard Townsend & Downey, the sailing schooner was originally delivered in 1902 and has been the "pride and joy of numerous aristocrats, industrialists and magnates" throughout her 122 years of history. Not only host to several A-list parties, the schooner has sailed in countless regattas and even circumnavigated the world multiple times.

Shenandoah of Sark is now asking €7,800,000 with VAT paid

Shenandoah of Sark was penned by arguably the world's first superyacht designer, Thedore E. Ferris. Unsurprisingly, she has undergone numerous refits since her launch, the most notable of which is the award-winning interior redesign by Terence Disdale, with her baby Steinway piano remaining intact.

McMullen & Wing of New Zealand restored her from 1994 to 1996, after which she picked up a BOAT International Design & Innovation Award, with further refits in 2004, 2009, 2016 and 2019 keeping her well maintained and restored.

Accommodation on board Shenandoah of Sark includes five cabins, sleeping up to eight adults and three children, while there are quarters for a crew of 12 in six cabins.

Her interior has a suitably nautical and traditional feel, outfitted with warm wood panelling, gloss white deckheads and gold fittings and accents. Aside from her baby Steinway piano, the main saloon is host to a comfortable L-shaped sofa and dining table for eight. Notably, a bookshelf spans the width of the main saloon.

British designer Martin Francis is behind her innovative lowering cockpit windows, allowing for an open-air feel or full protection for up to 10 guests in the heart of sailing operations (while still feeling out of the way); a space also perfect for al fresco meals.

She has been on the market since 2013

Under twin Lugger 500hp diesel engines, the classic yacht for sale has a range of 3,740 nautical miles, a cruising speed of nine knots and a top speed of 12 knots. Key specs include a draft of 4.7 metres and a volume of 300GT.

Shenandoah of Sark is now asking €7,800,000 with VAT paid, currently lying in Valencia, Spain.
